MATTHAU'S TOURDIARY
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA , May 2006
April 28th - May 4th, 2006

It was our first visit to America and I cannot tell you how excited we were.
It´s very amusing how many security checks you have to pass before they let you in the country -it´s almost ridiculous, I think. 18 or 19 hourssitting in a plane was pretty rough but those planes are real comfortable so it went fast by watching movies and playing all these games they have there. Our first stop was in Köpenhagen where we took another plane to Seattle. Before they let anyone in the United Sates of America you have to go through a lot. They ask you the strangest questions like "do you have a communicalbe disease; physical or mental disorder; or are you a drug abuser or addict?" Who´s gonna say yes, anyway.

Eventually we got there. There we were at the Hyatt hotel Hollywood, Los Angeles. Hyatt is the place where everybody from Jim Morrison to Led Zeppelin has raised hell. In the plane I read Lemmy´s White Line Fever and a few things took place at the Hyatt and I was just blown away going there myself.

The next morning we headed for a radio station (Indie 103,1) to make an interview. It was a hot day and as I was sitting in the studio with Paavo headphones on and saw the sign "on air" turn on I almost shit my pants. It was a good interview. I went out shopping with Kerkko. We found some great places and visited Beverly Center -a big mall and we also found the Hustler store which was a huge place full of toys.

April 30: I never thought it would get even better than what I experienced with Popeda recently. The Musexpo threw a rooftop party at Bel Age Hotel. All the bands were invited and all the suits were there. Initially it seemed a bit formal so I decided to make a scene and break the ice and stepped into the whirlpool with my clothes on. There I was in the hot water holding a drink in one hand and smoking cigaretes with other. It wasn´t long until people started taking pictures of me having fun and there was also a film crew and they wanted to film an insert where I say who I am and where we are.. Free advertisement!!! Awesome.

May 1: We did a tv-appearance at Bel Age. It was outdoors on the third floor and it took place on a huge balcony. It was hilarious and everybody was laughing with us goofing around and basically being us. In the end of the interview I fell off the sofa which was placed on a platform so it was like 1,5 meter fall. I did it on purpose, though. In the evening we all went to the Roxy Theatre to see The Winyls. They were great. I went to the Viper Room with a few people only to find Iiro Seppänen drunk out of his mind. I also met a local comedian there.

May 2: This morning I headed for The Coffee Bean to get my kickstart. There I met a guy called Dean. He told me he was an actor and he had been co-starring Edward Furlong on Death Valley and his latest movie will be in cinemas this summer. As we were walking down the Sunset Blvd a black limousine pulled over and the driver announced: "Are you guys from Bloodpit?" Sure -I said and he goes "Get it". It was my first time in a huge limo driving down the Sunset Boulevard. The limo dropped us off in front of the Roxy Theatre with people staring at us. I felt like a real star. And just for the record I got to play Slash´s amplifier at Roxy.

There was a few guys who we kept seeing every day. One we called Eza who was a shuttle driver for Musexpo and he was a pro -a big guy who took care of everything. He also got a lot of pussy. Then there was this guy called Mr.Bunker who was more on the same page with Paavo. He used to buy us all drinks. The third guy was a diplomat. He was from Finland -a nice guy.

On Wednesday Aleksi, Masa and I headed for The walk of fame, Hollywood. That´s the place to be cause it´s filled with all these great stores.
There was a photo shoot session with a swedish guy named Magnus. Right after the session was over I took off to the Key Club. Bäckman took me inside and introduced me to a few suits. There was a lot of free food which was a bless since I didn´t have any money. I got bored really fast at the Key Club so I went to the Rainbow bar and grill. Wov, what a trip. We experienced quite a lot. I used Slash´s amp at our show and I saw Nikki Sixx in a town bus. What else could I want.
