In the studio the whole band played together live while recording the rhythm tracks. Matthau and Paavo had to learn to play his guitar parts differently than usual so that the rhythm section's work would have been as easy as possible. When you are used to playing something in a certain way, it's a quite hard and nervewrecking task to try to change it.
This photo was taken behind the glass from upstairs and it may give you some sort of a prison-like athmosphere feeling. Four days inside four walls without laugh and play and without going out for a single time was still a piece of cake. Or can you see some effects of a too anticeptic air in Matthau's foot where you can almost see, or never mind... Pay also attention to a moveable wall with an aquarium-like window. Matthau had to be isolated behind that wall, because his voice leaked into the other microphones.
