NEWS ARCHIVE 2004 - 2007

25.07.07 - Limits, explanations & excuses vol. 79345
All of Bloodpit's gigs, including the European tour at the end of the year, have been cancelled and the band retreats to a comprehensive break. Last Friday's gig at Sunset Beach Party, which lasted only two songs, proved that the mental health of the members of the group is no longer in condition required for touring. We have worked together with this line-up for almost five years, and we have been through a lot as a group, but there is only so much the human mind can take. We have been on the borderline for quite some time, the limit has been close before, and now it has finally been crossed.

The situation we have fallen into is extremely frustrating and has to be solved no matter what. We well return to the stage as a band once we, as a whole, are in a condition worthy of our audience. Should this never happen, we reckon that for us, this was it. We will post news once matters develop one way or the other. However, it is clear that the break may be prolonged for a long period of time. For all the trouble we have caused, we apologise deeply to everyone concerned and above all to our fans.

An enormous thank you to each and every one of you for all things possible, perhaps we will see each other again someday!

11.01.07– Bloodpit to join forces with Sony BMG
Bloodpit has happily joined forces with Sony BMG. In future, the music of the band will be released through Sony BMG, under the Beemvees-label of Merceedees Tuotanto. For Bloodpit, the choice between an indie and major record label has always been difficult.

"Now we get to combine the best parts of both. We were finally convinced of Sony BMG's good intentions because of the managers, who visited us and proved to be everything but a faceless machine. It feels great to continue recording the album when one knows for certain that everything functions in the best possible way in the background!", says Matthau.

"At the moment, Bloodpit is one the most potential Finnish rock bands and it is truly great to collaborate with them", says Kimmo Valtanen, Managing Director of Sony BMG Finland. "Bomfunk MC's and HIM were once broken through Sony and BMG's organizations, and Lordi was last year's biggest success story. For Bloodpit, Sony BMG intends to create a setting for similar kind of domestic and international success."

The forthcoming weekend, Bloodpit will perform at Eurosonic Festival in the Netherlands. The band has already begun recording their second album with the producer Janne Joutsenniemi, and the album is to be released in Finland in the spring. The album will be mixed by Jyrki Tuovinen and Hiili Hiilesmaa. The first single should in all likelihood be released in March.
